ATTENTION:  Parents/Guardians of Students in the English Language Learner (ELL) Program:

The following is important information regarding the distribution plans for the Individual Score Reports (ISR)  for the  WIDA ACCESS 2.0 for ELLs Assessment:

All ELL students took the WIDA ACCESS 2.0 for ELLs Assessment this past winter between the dates of January 8, 2024  and March 1, 2024.  Individual Score Reports (ISRs) will be sent to the school district this summer.  However, Hancock Place School District will hold the ISRs so that the English language learner (ELL) faculty members can mail the score reports and a guide to understanding the scores to each family the week of August 12, 2024,  when faculty and staff members return for the 2024-25 school year. 

Should a family wish to receive their child's ISR earlier than August, they must email Dr. Tim McInnis, Assistant Superintendent at tmcinnis@hpsd.school with a  written request to email their child's 2024 WIDA ACCESS 2.0 for ELLs Individual Scoring Report as well as the guide to understanding the scores.

Please feel free to copy this notice into your choice of translator to have the message in your native language.  If you have any difficulties, please reach out to Dr. McInnis, Assistant Superintendent, and he will assist you in getting this information in your native language.

STL Photovoice

What? A summer photography workshop: learn how to express yourself through photos, take part in group discussions & create a gallery to share around STL. Who? 7th-12th grade Arab girls, interested in photography & exploring Saint Louis. Where? The Botanical Gardens, Forest Park & the Welcome Neighbor STL office. When? July 2, 9, 11, 16, 18 & 23 from 10am - 1pm. Why? Learn new skills (photography & leadership). Connect with other girls in the community. Money for participating. Add to STL community art.

This gallery showcases the images and captions that elementary to high school students created as part of their participation in the PhotoVoice program. In this exhibit, first- and second-generation students of Arab heritage explore topics such as identity, well-being, and life in the US through their chosen images and captions. How does this gallery work? The images and captions from PhotoVoice are grouped by prompt: What do you want people to know about you? How would you describe your life in the US to a friend back in your country of birth? What does “belonging” mean to you? What community/communities do you belong to? What makes you feel the most and the least like you belong to your community?" What does well-being mean to you? Who created this art? This art was created by a group of 11 students who have been--or whose parents have been--resettled to Saint Louis from Syria and Iraq.
